Terms of service
Short, because the product is small. Hereandaway is operated by Silicron Code. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.
The service
Hereandaway shows a small group of friends whether you are at your computer, and lets you attach a short message. It is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We aim to keep it running, but we do not guarantee uptime, and presence data is by design ephemeral: if the server restarts, everyone goes dark and reconnects, and nothing is lost because nothing was stored.
Your account
- You need a working email address to sign in. Keep access to it; it is the only way into your account.
- You are responsible for what you write in your messages and for whom you invite onto your list.
- You can delete your account at any time from settings. Deletion is immediate and total (see the privacy page).
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time, for any reason. We expect to use this rarely and only in response to abuse, but the right is unconditional. A suspended account cannot sign in, and its presence goes dark for its friends.
Acceptable use
Everything you write in Hereandaway reaches only people who chose to add you, so common decency covers most of it. Still, plainly:
- Don’t use Hereandaway to harass, threaten, or abuse anyone, and remember that anyone can remove you from their list instantly, silently, and permanently.
- Don’t post or link to illegal content. We host no files, but linking to unlawful material is still grounds for immediate termination, and where the law requires it, a report to the authorities.
- Don’t attempt to disrupt the service, probe it, overload it, or access accounts or data that aren’t yours.
- Don’t automate or resell the service.
If someone is abusing Hereandaway, remove them from your list (in a mutual-consent buddy list, removal is blocking) and report them, either with the Report action in the app or by writing to webmaster@hereandaway.net. Reports are read by a person and acted on in good faith.
Changes
If these terms change in any way that matters, we’ll say so plainly on this site before the change takes effect. Continued use after that is acceptance.
