Why isn’t my friend shown as here? I know they’re online.

“Here” means the app is running and they’ve touched the keyboard or mouse recently. Idle at the machine, lid open with nothing happening, app quit: all of those read as offline, because being reachable-in-theory isn’t the signal. When a buddy shows as offline it means “not at the computer right now,” and that’s all it means. It is not a verdict, and there is no number attached.

Why can’t I see when they were last on?

Because last-seen doesn’t exist: not hidden behind a setting, not in our database, nowhere. Presence is never recorded, so there is nothing to show you. This is the product working, not a missing feature. The privacy page has the full reasoning.

Why is there no mobile app?

Because a phone is always on and always with you, so “online on mobile” means nothing. The whole signal Hereandaway carries is “at a computer,” a real event, like it used to be. A mobile app would dilute that into the always-on soup this exists to get away from.

How do I add someone?

Create an invite code in settings and hand it to them yourself: text, email, in person. Codes are single-use and expire in 7 days. There is no search and no directory, so a stranger has no way to reach you.

How do I block someone?

Remove them. In a list where every edge is mutual, removal is blocking: it’s symmetric, immediate, and silent. They get no notification; your row simply disappears from their list and theirs from yours. Getting back on requires a fresh invite code from you.

Where’s invisible mode?

Deliberately absent. With no chat and a hand-picked list, there is nobody to hide from. If you don’t want someone seeing your presence, remove them. That’s the honest version of the feature. If you want to go dark for everyone, quit the app.

I can’t log in. No code is arriving.

Codes come from webmaster@hereandaway.net and expire after 10 minutes. Check spam first; there is no password fallback, so the email is the whole login. Still nothing after a few minutes? Write to support and we’ll sort it out.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. It is immediate and total. If you can’t get into the app, email support from your account’s address and we’ll delete it for you.
